Berry Fun Nail Time!

Valentine's Day is coming up I can't seem to go a day without hearing about chocolate covered strawberries. Since I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate I thought maybe I'd treat myself to strawberry covered nails, instead. They weren't as much of a challenge as I had thought. I made a few mistakes, so I think the next round of strawberry nails should come out a little better... But here's how I did them, flaws and all.

I started out with one coat of red. I'm sure this comes as no shock, I mean, strawberries are red.

I cut little triangles out of some electrical tape, making one long strip with a jagged edged side. (I use electrical tape because it doesn't peel off nail polish when removed.) I cut that strip in to 10 sections to cover each nail with the jagged edge pointed towards the cuticle. Once the electrical tape was on the nail I filled the non taped area near the cuticle with a coat of dark green, waited about a minute then carefully removed the tape.

To add the dots I used an old, empty mechanical pencil. I dipped the end in some yellow nail polish and dotted the nail. This is where I made a pretty lame mistake. The yellow nail polish I had was old and was kinda stringy. Oh well. I'll know better next time, right?

After adding a clear top coat, my strawberry nails were ready to be dipped in chocolate... If I liked chocolate, that is.
